2D Or Not 2D
Blurring the lines between photography and painting
In 2D or not 2D, I play with the boundaries between two-dimensional art and three-dimensional reality, using bold, flat designs to create optical illusions that transform the human face into seemingly two-dimensional objects. The models appear as though they’ve stepped out of a comic strip or painting, their features distorted by high-contrast lines and carefully applied makeup that mimics digital or hand-drawn techniques. This project pushes viewers to question their perception of depth and reality, blurring the lines between photography, painting, and digital art. My goal is to challenge traditional portraiture by turning the subject into a living work of graphic art, merging visual media in a playful yet thought-provoking way. Through 2D or not 2D, I aim to inspire curiosity and wonder, inviting viewers to reconsider how they experience visual reality.
